Homeless we are..

So this past Tuesday we officially became HOMELESS! Thankfully we have great friends and family close enough to bunk up.  Originally we were planning to stick it out in a long term hotel room, but then decided it would not be logical finically.  Thus my husband who still has to continue working during this time is well couch surfing.  He has been sticking out like a champ at various houses and we are thankful his friends are so accommodating.  As for Miss H, Winston, and I well we took off for my parents.  Sweet Bob Bob doesn't do well with change so she is at the vet for the time being.  I  am sure she is enjoying some piece there.  Let's look back a couple of days at our crazy life!!

Tuesday: Spent the whole day with movers packing up and moving things.  Our builder is so wonderful and allowed us to store everything in the garage at our soon to be home.  He made sure the garage was finished out and ready to go...love them!  Thankfully Miss H has school on Tuesday because she was not to happy about her toys being gone.  When I picked her up the truck was almost finished loading up the house.  She took on look and was not so excited!  However, once she saw them unload it into the garage she was a little happier.  Mostly just thankful she had her wagon to ride around in while we waited for them to unload and stack things.  That night we slept in a hotel and boy did we all sleep great!

our house...all in a box

Miss H not so sure about this...but loves signing TRUCK now

Finished up and ready to move.
How our things looked once they were in our new place!
she was so tired from the move she was passed out...for the night
Wednesday: Miss H and I enjoy the free breakfast at the Hyatt then took off for music class at TCU.  Of course an awful storm was hitting the area and the temps went from 70's to 40's.  Originally our plan was to head to A-town after music.  However, with the weather being awful and A-town getting possible snow we stuck it out here.  We went back to the Hyatt and hung out and napped.  Then we loaded up, went and got Winston (who stayed at the groomers over night), and moved to our next hotel.  Mom was headed back from my sisters so we all got a room (pet friendly) for the night.  Plus I got to take mom out and show her the house which was nice.
Keeping busy with the toys the hotel gives you, ice buckets!

Winston and Miss H enjoying the big window in our new room

The fountain that entertained her for a good hour, thank heavens!
Thursday: Mom, Miss H, and I all woke up and went to grab breakfast.  Before we left we gave Winston his drugs....he gets car sick!  By the time we were done everyone was ready to load up for the long RIDE to A-town.  Miss H did great and slept the first 1/2 of our 6 hours...not so great for the 2nd half.  She was much fussier than normal...now I see it is due to teeth.  Poor thing would fall asleep and then wake up 20 mins later screaming!  We were all thrilled to be here in A-town

up and ready to party
Happiness being out of the car!!! Loving her brother too.
Since getting here we have just been enjoying life not in a hotel and with space.  Winston is in heaven with a yard to play in.  Miss H is also loving the yard and learning about grass.  She really hasn't been in it much and its so funny to watch.  When she falls she tries to just stand up without touching any of the grass...so cute to watch.  We have spent time with my cousin and her sweet baby, also with my bff who just moved back to town.  Tomorrow we have big plans of hitting the A-town zoo!!! Whoo Whoo

just doing a little grocery shopping for our stay

yes, she thinks this is normal....living out of a suite case

 Enjoying time with Papa

As for the house well Friday is the day they say it will be ready, but I am not so sure.  Chris has been doing a great job checking in on it. I feel bad that I have been in charge and now left him to do the final stuff.  However, he is way better at the small things than I am!  Probably best this way.  We should know by Wednesday if we are headed home or sticking around here longer.  Either way I am fine...I love being home with my family.  Miss H loves it too as you can see.  No matter how things go from here we have many memories from the event.  I'm sure we will look back and laugh at it all...one day!

Moving along, no april fools here

I have tried like 10 times to sit and blog but we are busy, busy, busy over here.  A lot has happened this past month with our house and our rent house! Lets begin with the fun stuff...our new home!

Here are the most recent pictures from this past week.  They have been so busy out there.  We now have painted walls, stained cabinets, tiled floors, tiled bathrooms, and more. I can't believe how amazing it all looks.  I love it all!

our counters and cabinets all finished up

Things are still moving...up next we have light fixtures, showers and baths almost complete, and a driveway! Post on that to come soon!!

For the RENT house fun!!!  While Miss H and I were in Colorado our rent house sold.  Yes, we knew they were going to sale it...but didn't realize it would go so quickly.  Needless to say we have tried to ask the buyers to allow us to say till the 15 of April...when our home is done! But they are not having it..since our lease was up April 9th.  Thus we are going to be HOMELESS come April 9th.  Talk about FUN TIMES!  I mean come on what kind of people can't let us rent back for a week.  You can imagine how I feel about those people....

We have been busy over here looking for movers and boxing up the house.  I HATE moving more than anything in the world and now to have to move but not be in our home is even worse.  Our builder is wonderful and working to get the house done quicker...but we keep getting little snags like back ordered items.  Guess we will be staying a hotel for a bit.  Picture it now dog and cat that HATE each other plus baby in a hotel for at least 1 to 2 weeks...FUN times!   If anyone has a good suggestion I am beyond open to it.  Yes, I did plan to pack up and head to my sisters...but then who would be here to meet people at the house.  Chris has to work and well H and I go out about once a day to meet with workers! AHHH the craziness of it all! I only wish this was a crazy April fools joke too!

SOLD....moving on to

Saying goodbye...
Last MONDAY we officially signed over our first home.  I have mixed feelings about this because after all this was our fist home as a married couple and family.  Also this was Chris' house that he remolded. He spent countless hours doing this and I know would have spent a few more years enjoying it.  However, along came a wife and sweet baby girl.

On to the fun of our last few weeks...MOVING! AHHH I can not tell you how much I dislike moving (blame that on college days moving every semester) but moving with a 9 month old, HOLY COW!
Thankfully my wonderful mom came to help us move or gosh we would still be doing it.  Needless to say it took a us a little longer that expected but we have done it.  WHEEWW!  To bad we will have to do this all again in oh about 120 days!  Now that is one count down I will be a little sad about...but happy too because that means we are in our brand new house!!

Here are a few funny videos of Miss H during our moving:

and some random pics:

Me...trying to remember what our sweet babies room was like!  I should have done this before we had a bunch of junk around for the move.

Happy Birthday to me....what did we do MOVED and had dinner just Chris and I.

Moving forward hurts!!!

Day one of moving...I was still happy! lol

Or maybe I should just say MOVING, HURTS a lot. Needless to say I have spent my entire 3 day weekend doing something I DISLIKE MOST in life!!! MOVING!!! MOVING!!! MOVING!!! Yes much to my mother dismay, I am posting this post, I am sure to hear about it later...not for the fact that it is about moving, but more about moving into Chris'.

I spent all day and night Saturday at my house putting all things that belong to me in boxes and such. I also spent many moments revisiting wonderful memories. Then was saddened by the fact that my whole life for the past 6 years or so will now live in STORAGE!!! I keep telling Chris how sad this makes me, but he seems to not understand... I will explain why later! After a very busy Saturday night, I headed "home" to grab some shut eye before the big move on Sunday.

Sunday's plan WAS to go grab the moving truck, load up all my belonging, and then head to the storage unit to unload. All this was to be done by about 1 so Chris could grab the end of the Cowboys game. Did you notice how I said WAS?  This is the way our actual day went:

  • 9:00 arrive to rent truck!
  • 10:30 leave with truck (computer systems down, causing us to have a very hard time getting our already rented on line truck)
  • 10:50-12:20ish loading truck with all of my life!
  • 12:30 arrive at storage unit
  • 12:45 realize the unit I purchased on Jan 1st has a lock on it
  • 1:15 new unit give to me, now to unload
  • 1:50ish lunch....then off for one more load
  • 2:10 loading truck with the final stuff
  • 3:00 unload at storage
  • 4:00 unload final thing that I took to Chris' at house
  • 5:00 RETURN the truck
  • 5:45 left truck rental place and headed home
Do you see the many issues that we came across? I mean, I should have know when we had such a hard time renting the truck that morning that things were going to be rough! Not just rough on our bodies, I can't even count the bruises and cuts I have, but rough all around! Poor, sweet, wonderful, amazing Chris made it through the move with only a few dirty words and such! He was a trooper even with all the hold ups.

Now lets discuss the difference between how guys move and us women! I of course LOVE all my things...Chris, he likes his things but would get rid of them and just buy new easily. When I came to terms with moving into Chris' house I had to start fighting my fight for MY things. I mean Chris too has now lived on his own for 6 years...so together we both have fully furnished houses. Thus making moving in together hard. However, I knew I would have to fight for a few of my most loved items. The items I fought for were:

  • my bed: it is much better than his guest bed, but we kept his mattress
  • my dresser that my grandpa redid for me...it in no way fits into the decor of the house, but he is letting me keep it for our next place, so it lives in storage for now only NOW!
  • my other nice dresser...it came from my mom's good friend's father. I got to bring it to the house!!
  • all my AMAZING RED KITCHEN AID appliances....well this one was easy as he likes to cook
  • my fiesta dishes, these will be the ones we use for everyday eating now and after the wedding
  • of course my clothes and shoes
  • a few picture frames and decorative items too....but not to much because we don't have much room

poor Bob her room has been taken over

and of course I had to bring all of Little Bear's toys to the new house!

Now keep in mind these are only the things I got to take to the HOUSE!!! The rest as you read earlier went to storage for our future home or what ever. This is where Chris finally realized why I am the mess I am I think. At first we were just loading up the major things like beds, couches, washer, and drier and such...then it got to the little things. The 20 questions began here: Why do you need to keep thins? Can't we just buy another one if we need it? How will you use this? Blah, blah, blah. Of course for each item I would have my reason for moving it on to storage. Then he got smart....and the questions changed. As he was carrying out this very cute old step ladder/stool my mom gave me......Okay why is this sentimental to you? What value has this added to your life? Who is this from your mom, grandpa.....? You see this comes from his work back ground I think; the way he changed up his approach as he could see I was a bit defensive. I mean who isn't defensive about someone wanting to throw out all their things, when he has a whole house of his things!!!

Long story short, it hurts me to have to move all my items into a very nice state of the art storage unit! (of course I picked the best for my things) However, I know that one day we will have my things back and can merge them with OUR soon to be new things....in our soon to be new house! As I told Chris yesterday, "When I am sad about my things I will just run over here and sit in my unit for a while." He laughed very hard at that, but knows I will do it! Oh and then today when he wanted me to take a few things to good will...I got the oh but my best friends, mom's, sister may have given that to me so I hate to get rid of it! He thinks he is so funny, but what is funny is guys just see belongs as stuff. Women see them as memories, happiness, and much more! Apartment life is not for me anymore, now to unpack the things I snuck in while Chris was at work today!!!
