My little sponge

Recently Miss H has become such the little chit chatter.  She loves to carry on conversations now about anything.  I am not sure who she takes after (wink wink).  This week we have had 2 very specific moments that have been so amazing to me!  She is such a little sponge and just soaks up life and all it offers.  I love watching her learn and grown it amazes me daily.

Tuesday is our very busy day! We get up early and have to leave he house by 8:15 in order to make it to mommy and me yoga at 9.  As you know we now live in our sweet small town…that has train tracks like most small towns right?  Well, if you hit the train you should just add an extra 15-20 minutes to your life…so you need to plan your departure around that! Needless to say if we leave a second after 8:15 we end up 5 min late to yoga! YIKES  Anyways I digress…on the way to yoga we listen to our music cd because at 11:30 we go to music at TCU.  As we are listening Miss H starts laughing and this is our conversation.
Me: whats so funny missy?
H: Oh Sinston (Wintson the dog)!!
Me: What about Winston he is at home?
H: Stinky toots
Me: When did Winston have stinky toots?
H: Oh Saturday at chooo choo, stinky toots mommy.
Me: Oh yes, you are right Saturday Winston did toot in the car.

This past Saturday we took Winston into town to get groomed, you have to cross the tracks.  After we did that Winston had tooted so H and I discussed that it was stinky and could he please wait till we get to the groomers fro that.  Amazing how crossing the tracks on Tuesday morning she comes up with this story again!  I swear this little girl is just soaking up the world!

Then last night we had another little chat.  After her bath we snuggled up in bed to wait on Chris to get home.  He was working late..I was watching American Idle and she was playing in our bed reading and such.  Then out of no where she begins to ask me about my sweet friend Alison's puppies.
Back story: Alison and I taught together and she often will watch H if we need like an hour sitter between Chris coming home and me having tennis.  She is the best friend a girl could ask for.  So I normally take H to Alison's house where she and her son play with our sweet girl.  They have 2 dogs Tucker and Sam.  Well the pups have been staying in College Station with Alison's mom and dad for a bit to give them some freedom and fun.  On Saturday Sam got out..and was hit by a car.  Alison and her son of course were heart broken….but H loves her dogs just as much as Winston.  So I told H what happened on Sunday because she was wanting to go play with the puppies.
So out of no where H begins this conversation with me about Alison's pups Sam and Tucker.  I quickly turned my phone on so I could catch this moment.

She of course told me that Sam got hit by the car and was talking about it.  I asked her how that made her feel.  She said he was Happy because Bob Bob (our cat that we lost in October) was with him.  It blows my mind and how she understands,  She frequently will talk about Bob Bob and how she is in heaven because the dr put her there. But I am pretty sure we will now be adding Sam to this conversation.  Sweetest girl..with the best memory!  I love the phase of life that she is in.  I love being able to talk to her and understand what she is thinking. But then I am also sad that she is so big.  I mean it seems like just in the past month she has grown up by 10 years!  Please stop growing Miss H mommy doesn't want to miss a second of it!

These are the random things going on at our house..oh and the freezing cold weather! Grr we are ready for spring and our weekly visits to the zoo again!   Stay warm my friends.

Oh heavens...

Ever have one of those days?  You know a day that you wish would just end and you could start fresh...well I did this week.  My day was Thursday!  This past week was actually very challenging in different ways.  Miss H was fussier than normal at the beginning of the week, then Thursday topped it off!

Let me set the scene: Wednesday night I was cleaning up the house getting things ready for Miss H to go to bed.  Chris was holding her so I could finish up a few things...then it was off to bed for all of us.  Well, Bob (our cat for those of you who don't know her...yes her) was prancing around Miss H's room with me as I put up some laundry.  Next thing I know WINSTON is in full force sprint to attack poor Bob.  Did I mention they still after almost 2 years are not BBFs.  Winston wants to bark and play with Bob and Bob wants to have nothing to do with him.  As he is charging at her he slides on the wood floor and hurts his leg....(insert loud yelping from dog here).  I stop screaming at Winston to not attack Bob and pick him up as fast as I can.  Then yell to Chris for help....well he has Miss H.  I say lay her on the floor.  It is then that we have to pop Winston's knee back in place.  Now we have a pup who is only using 3 legs....just great!

On to Thursday: I already had a vet apt for Bob at 2 so I told Chris he would have to deal with the Winston issue... I mean I can't do dog, baby, and cat all at once!  He took Winston in the am and left him to be seen by a dr when they were free.  Our vet is pretty popular so we often do this.  Miss H and I get up and begin our day, which started out lovely!  Come lunch time we met up with Chris who said Winston had to have x-rays...I figured as much.  Then said they would call him back when we should go chat with the dr about it.  After lunch Miss H and I run some quick errands and head home.  Once home we get notice that the house is going to be shown at 3.  No problem we will probably still be at the vet with Bob.  We already had a showing at 6 that night so it would all work out right?

1:30 arrives and I speak to the vet, they want to chat about Winston when we come at 2 for Bob's visit.  Great now we will have all animals and baby at the vet at the SAME TIME!!  Thankfully Chris randomly drops by the house I tell him he as to go too so we can talk about Winston's knee.  He was fine with that but had a meeting at 2:30 he had to be at.

2:00 we arrive at vet and I ask if we can chat about Winston first since Chris had to leave.  Sure no problem...Well we get in find out that poor Winston is going to need some major knee surgery (cha ching cha ching cha ching).  However, it is not immediately needed just some time soon.  Basically his tendon no long sits on top of the knee bone and they need to cut it deeper so it can sit back in there.  Needless to say his knee will pop in and out till we get it fix.  GREAT! He is only 3 years old, really!!
Bob's check up goes much quicker.  Then we head out to pay and they go to get Winston for us.  Chris realizes he really needs to leave because it is now 2:30.  So he is paying and we hear.....the dreaded noise from Miss H.  You know that noise that occurs when major pooping is going on.  I say oh no she is pooping. Chris is like well it will have to wait for a moment.  Next thing you know......I look down to no longer see her cute little leg but poop everywhere!

This poop-tasterfe is worse than the car blow out...and it just kept coming.  Great now I have Miss H in her car seat that is now covered in poop.  Bob in her kennel in the bottom of the stroller and Chris holding Winston on his leash.  But Chris had to leave!  I looked at Chris and said this CAN NOT WAIT!

Bob, Miss H and I hit the bathroom quick....I try cleaning up the poop mess as best as I can in as little time as possible.  Of course Miss H is just enjoying life and not really helping out as I was trying to hurry.  You know she is putting her legs out straight not bending them, or keeping them bent not letting me wipe her up.  It was a DISASTER in there...Bob just meowing away in the stroller and Chris talking with me through the women's bathroom door.  I threw paper towels in the car seat buckled her up then we were out.  Now to drive home with a dog, cat, and poopy baby!  Oh and guess what time it was now almost 3.  Do you remember what was happening at 3 at my house....A SHOWING!  I rush home and as I pull up to the house it occurs to me- I THREW MISS H"S PANTS AWAY IN THE TRASH AT THE VET......no I did not mean to, I was in such a rush everything on the changing table went in the trash...PANTS included!  AHHHH

No time to worry about that I had to get the animals in the house and Miss H semi cleaned up before the people arrived to see the house.  3 trips into the house and all animals and people are inside... Now to clean up the car seat and Miss H before the people arrive.  First things first get the car seat pad out and in the wash to soak.  Number one rule to getting baby poop out: wash off poop and soak asap.  Then to Miss H's room for a baby wipe bath and a new outfit!  All of this is done as I keep looking out the window for the people.  If there was a camera in our house I am sure someone would have had a blast watching this whole ordeal go down!  Geeze....Finally I got the wash machine full, poopy car seat pad soaking,  baby cleaned, and back in her car seat ready to leave.  As I open the door to walk out...the people pull up.  Perfect timing!  I apologize for just leaving and welcome them in.....Now I can finally worry about THE PANTS!

Miss H in her cleaned up seat with a new outfit ready to go, again!
Miss H and I truck back up to the vet, thankfully some where in that mess I did talk with Chris.  He called the vet and asked if they could look for her poopy pants.  HA but they enjoyed that phone call.  We walk back in and sure enough the nice nurse had found them and pulled them out.  That was probably the best part of the who ordeal.  I didn't have to dig in the trash full of poo to find the pants covered in poo.  Bless her heart for doing that! Next stop for Miss H and I was HAPPY HOUR!  Yes, this breastfeeding mommy needed a DRINK after all that!  My 1 glass of wine was so delightful and much needed.  That is only the 2nd time I have had an adult beverage since Miss H was born...and man was that time worth it!  I am thankful for a few things on the AWFUL day!  1) That we still have the car seat coushin in our car seat as it took the poop and not the car seat it's self 2) I have dear friends who will meet me on a moments notice for a drink and chatting 3) that Miss H is so easy going when messes like this occur!

Me vs. Jeans

Remember my post a couple of days ago...about the little challenges in life!  Well let me just tell you one more that I have BEAT!!  Jeans, yes....jeans.

After I had Miss H I kept my maternity jeans out for a while.  I did it for 2 reason 1) I was still pretty fat!! 2) they didn't hurt my incision from the c-section.  Then after about the first month I could not stand those jeans any more.  For 2 reasons 1) They made me feel as if I would never get skinny again 2) they would not stay up...I was constantly pulling them up as they fell.

Off to Old Navy I went...for their cheap $19.99 jeans.  Normally I can't stand their jeans but to only wear them for a bit I could stand them.  So I picked up 2 pairs, to have Chris pick the cutest later.  I have been living in those jeans for the past 3 1/2 weeks.  No they are not my favorite, but they stay up and I feel like a real person.  Only down fall is...I have to wash them so freaking often because well they are my only pair of jeans! HA

Thus this past Saturday, I had forgotten to wash my jeans the night before.  I tried them on...but they were just to baggy from being wore for 2 days.  I reached in the closet and pulled out my NORMAL pre-baby jeans.  With a deep breath and eyes closed I put them on.  Yes, they made it up the legs and now for the buttoning........TA DA!!!  They FIT, yes they really FIT!  Whoo Whoo, I did a little happy dance and ran to show Chris.  Exactly 2 months and I am back in my normal jeans....I know it is not as good as my sister's friends, but I am pretty dang pleased with my rate of skinniness (I may have just made that word up) after having Miss H.

Take that maternity jeans and Old Navy between jeans----Off to the garage you peeps go!  I'm back in my pre-Miss H jeans and I no longer wish to see you.  Now if only I could fit in my old shirts.  I don't see that happening for many months, as well my girls up top seem to have stayed in the Triple D zone for now. (GRRR I still can't imagine paying money for them, and people do!)  People keep telling me they will get smaller as my milk regulates....um I don't have faith in that being as I feel like I have more than enough milk going on over here.  Okay now I'm in the TMI zone! Sorry

This and that!

So many random things I have not blogged about lately....just trying to keep up my weekly updates going has been hard.  Tonight I finished up my last round of grades for school for a while, crazy thought!  Now, I finally feel free to blog about all those random things I haven't had time for or felt bad about doing over school stuff!

Let's see where to start Baby Prep:  Okay so Chris and I have not really had that much baby/labor prep!  The funny thing is every time our hospital offered a class we were out of town!  YIKES...makes for a little nervousness on our end, but what can you do really.  However, I do have to give big props to the one thing we DID do for our sweet baby.  When I nannied my sweet niece back oh 7 years ago (wow she is so big..and I am so old) there was a local Target that would hold car seat safety checks.  Remembering this I made a few phone calls over Christmas break.  I called up the Hurst DPS and asked if they still had a car seat safety program.  They passed me right along to a wonderful State Trooper.  Officer Haschel was AMAZING!!  He actually came to OUR HOUSE on CHRISTMAS EVE to take us through all the INS and OUTS of the infant seat.

He came in and did about 20 minutes of the safety features for us.  He showed us how the car seat works in an accident and such.  The whole thing was very informative.  Then he took us out to our cars and showed us the best way to instal the seat.  He installed it and then uninstalled it....then making us do it.  After we installed it he checked and approved.  He said the number one reason babies get hurt in an accident is because the seat is not installed properly!  Check that off our list!!!  We can put that sucker in  like no ones business! Whoo whoo if nothing we are at least ready for the car. (if you live in the area I would love to pass along his info)

Baby R's room is pretty much complete! Check that off the list too.  Oh and have I mentioned the NESTING that has been going on. Nesting, nesting, nesting....like crazy!  The funny thing is that the nesting has not all been done by me either.  I swear if I didn't get the nesting bug, Chris sure as heck did. He has cleaned the garage, we sent the pod back to the pod place, got a new dinning room table, and fixed the office up.   The list goes on and on!  I love that everything is coming together and ready for the next few weeks.  Chris did a great job of making sure all our handy work got done too!  Got to love a handy sweet husband!!!

Okay so I would love to add pictures of all the changes, BUT the camera is packed and ready to go!  Sorry!!!  Guess I wasn't thinking about the blogging I would do :-)  After the baby comes I'll show you for sure!  P.S. Be on the look out for a BOY or GIRL post coming soon!! Sorry for the random long post about nothing too crazy fun...just random thoughts.

Wonderful start

to my Monday.  Look who is the best hubby in the world!
not the best pic...but you get the point!
Yes, that would be my hubby, who made me a wonderful breakfast to start my Monday off right.  He is the best!  I love when he surprises me with breakfast...mmm!  Also this weekend we had a nice little day date to the Movie Tavern, my favorite move place ever.  We watched Money Ball!  I really recommend it.  Chris loves baseball and well the actor (Brad Pitt) is not too bad to look at either.  But the story is amazing. I can't believe the way baseball is played or how players are picked.  Grab a guy and head out to see it.

Hope you all had a great weekend.  Ours was pretty low key, just like I like it!  Let's see other than our date on Sunday after church I played tennis (which was a sad loss...in a 3rd set tie break, let's not talk about it..grrr), and oh won $25.00.  Yes, I won 25 bucks!!  Whoo whoo, our local teachers union, UEA, holds a weekly drawing of teachers.  They randomly pic members to win, you just have too look at their news letter and call in.  Well what do you know, my name was on the list this week.  That is how you know it will be a great week...oh and breakfast from your hubby, and a shorter week because I am headed home to visit my parents.  Thought mom and I could have some fun shopping in good old A town this weekend so we both took Friday off! Whoo whoo.  Oh and to top off my wonderful week (yes I know it is only Monday), our baby bedding should be in VERY soon!!!  Hope your week looks as amazing as mine!

Funny notes from Room 211

We are officially in our 4th week of school now and man are we busy.  I wanted to share a pretty funny moment with you all or at least I found it funny! Ha (this post may be a bit long....sorry got to set up the story...what Chris loves the most! HA)

I have this sweet, wonderful, darling little guy this year who has caused a few million fits the past year in first grade.  Any ways long story short (ha ha ha) I ASKED to have him in my room this year!  Yes, I know I am a bit crazy and some days I wonder why, but something about him tugged on my heart.  Plus I love helping students see that they can succeed regardless of the other issues they face. So sweet S is mine this year!  I had many great ideas prior to getting him in class.  But for those of you who know kids, ideas are great, but seeing it in action is different.  My main goal the first few weeks of school were for  him to realize 3 things.

  1. He is required to do his work no matter what HE WANTS to do.
  2. He will learn social skills and interact appropriately with his classmates
  3. He is no different than anyone else in our room.
Thus far we have done pretty good on all 3!  That was until oh last THURSDAY.  Around 10 after reading I asked him to illustrate 4 details from our reading story.  (he hates to write, but loves to illustrate) I didn't think he would fuss since ILLUSTRATING is favorite thing.  However, he did not want to have any part in this.

Me: Please illustrate 4 details from our story.  When you are done I will help you write the sentences to match that point in the story.
S: No I would rather do illustrations of grasshoppers, but thank you.
Me: When you complete your story illustration I would be glad for you to do a free illustration of your choice.
S: GRRRR (when he is not please he growls at me, yes growls!)
Me: GRRR do it quickly so you have time for your "free illustration"
S: FINE!

I leave to help some others students and check back 5 minutes later.  He has drawn a triangle and a stick person.  Please keep in mind this guy can really illustrate!  I mean some days I wonder how he does it.

S: I am done!
Me: Did you do 4 details from the story?
S: Well the story was just about camping.  I drew the tent and Henry.
Me: Okay but that illustration is not superior to what you are able to do.
S: GRRR
Me: GRRR do it right the first time and you'll get done sooner!

About 10 minutes later I notice he is VERY into his illustration.  That is when I ask him to show it to me. Well of course he was into it....he had chosen to "free illustrate" without permission.  Thus a huge no no he knows he has to finish his class work first.

Me: S can I please see both of your papers?
S: Okay... (walking with head down because he knows he is busted)
Me: RIIIIPPPPP (tearing up the "free" illustration....yes I am the mean teacher that throws out bad work and ask you to do better.  I am a stickler to doing your best and wont take anything less)
S: (screaming voice) WHY DID YOU DO THAT? (picture the rest of the class finally clueing into the huge mess S has just become.  Many faces with mouths wide open and in shock, but thankful it was not their paper being thrown away! HA)
Me: Why do you think I did that?
S: Because I didn't finish my work first. (he knows he is wrong and is trying to play me...stinker)
Me: Correct...now take a moment to cool off and then we will chat about how to fix this problem.

Thus the rest of the day we all went about our business and S had a nice day!  I know hard to believe but he really did.  After I dismiss my children at 3 I walk back into my room to find a picture on my teacher table.  Of course I don't remember asking the kids to turn anything in on my desk (thanks to the prego hormones that make you forget EVERYTHING).  I turn the picture over to find this:
Keep in mind we are grasshopper people!
I notice that this picture had to of been a LOVE letter from sweet S!  He is so stinking smart....and actually took his feelings to paper.  Yes, he is completely put out with me, but at least he expressed them on this paper rather than a huge crying fit (he did this during his free illustration time after math).  I did place the picture on the wall and showed S how much I appreciated his sweet picture he left me.  He then asked if he could put another one beside it....one that was a little nicer (yes those were his words).  I can't explain how funny but proud I was of S for this.  You may see it as me hacking off a kid and him getting back at me.  However, I see it as a child who has struggled with self control learning how to express himself when life doesn't go his way.  S has grown so much in the past 4 weeks I can't wait to see him at the end of the year.

What's the story...

Let me set the scene please!  My good friend Katie was here visiting me recently and well we saw something rather odd.  As normal I like to kind of do things with my friends that they don't really have in their town! Ha, with Katie that is not really a problem....she lives in Tyler.  Of course we did the usual eating at places she misses and such.  But then we got a crazy hair to drive over to Allen!  I of course am ALWAYS up for a Coach outlet visit.  She had told me that she was looking at a few purses at the "real" store....so I insisted we head over to see if there wasn't something better and cheaper at the Allen store.  I also had a purse I wanted to trade in!

We were up early the next day making the trek to Allen! From my house it is about an hour and a half....with non work traffic!  I love taking G. Bush over there for various reasons....one I can now pick it up from Arlington (and no on is ever on that portion), and two it is just must FASTER!  Katie and I were of course enjoying the drive chatting about random things. When something odd caught my eye!

I looked and looked to confirm I had seen what I had before alerting Katie.  This is kind of how it all played out!

Me: Katie look at that car....there is a piece of hair hanging from the rear view mirror
Katie: Emily are you sure there is nothing hanging from that mirror on that car.
Me: NO, the mini van on the left!  Look at it.... (of course at the is point we were in an odd spot...so I had to speed up)
Katie: What...that is not A PIECE of hair, he SCALPED some person!!  (lots of laughing from us both)
Me: Why would a 50 year old gray headed man have a scalp of hair on his rear view?
Me: I have to blog about this craziness....but no one will believe me.
Katie: Here I'll take a pic...speed up and pretend to look at the camera.
Me: Okay great idea...(cheesy smile)

Do you see the HEAD OF HAIR he has hanging there??
Okay I know this is not normal...so that lead Katie and I to wonder WHY any person at all would do this?  Why would you place such a large amount of hair on your rear view mirror.  Katie of course thinks it is his souvenir from a recent killing....I love that my friends are so CSI like, like myself! HA I did think about copying down the license plate number just incase it was on the news that night! We followed this guy from Irving all the way to the 75 split off, kind of sad not to see where he was headed.  Then we sent the pic to my sister and brother in law (they were driving home from Florida)....They think he is a trani and that is his girl hair!  I just can't imagine why anyone would do this.  I mean it is so long that it flows around in the air conditioner.  REALLY??  So I ask you this....WHAT'S THE STORY HERE?

Wouldn't you know it

as soon as I get out of school and begin summer....our internet and tv provider decided to go down!  Now that I can finally sit around all BLOG as much as I want!  GRRR oh and try to pass my days by watching my tivo'd shows!

Needless to say Chris has spent many hours on the phone with the people!  He really loves that.  Then yesterday right after he called and they DECLARED our connections were fine, DOWN IT GOES again. Only this time I was at my breaking point!  Hence the reason I picked up the phone and got to spend 1 1/2 hours on the phone with them!  Yes, your SYSTEM says our internet is working; however I am TELLING you by LOOKING at my computer it IS NOT working.  It only took me the full hour and a half to get the man to finally give up and send a tech out.  Really, I know they are there to try and trouble shoot your problem.  But if your computer says one thing and mine another.....there is NO TROUBLE SHOOTING that will fix it!

Today I got the pleasure of sitting here from the wonderful time frame of 8-12 (like they can narrow that down anymore) waiting on the tech.  Wouldn't you know he finally arrived oh at 12:35.  Hummm I am almost certain that was not MY TIME FRAME! What ever at least the darn guy came.  Oh and great news!  I HAVE INTERNET AGAIN!!!  YIPEEE YIPEEE!

Hint---look forward to a few post coming because I have a few things to catch up on! Happy TUESDAY to you all!

It's Friday, Friday, Friday

if you don't listen to Kidd Kradick...then you can listen to this video!  He plays it every Friday...and may make fun of it a little!

Wow, I can't believe it is already Friday!  Normally I am counting down the days to FRIDAY!!!  There are two reasons I love Friday 1) It is a pretty easy day at school.  We do our spelling and reading test...head for lunch and the day is half over! 2) JEANS!!!  It is jean day at school...my favorite day ever!

Yet, now that it is summer I don't have to count down to FRIDAY!  Instead it's like every day is Friday....I can wear jeans or shorts even whenever I want.  I actually lose track of what day it is durning the summer.  Thankfully I have a husband who keeps me in the loop on that.  Since he still does have to work every day! HA (~~~Random side note here but I can't believe that Chris and I will have been married for ONE WHOLE YEAR in 16 days!  Wow!! )  Although I love Fridays so much during the school year, I kind of really hate to see them pass by at summer.  Why?  Well that means I am one Friday closer to my break being over!!! BOOO, but lets not talk about that for a bit okay.

~~Happy Friday to you all!  Hope it's a great start to your weekend!

A simple letter

Dear Blogger,

I understand that you may need to take breaks every once and awhile for updates and such.  However, this past "break" was horrific.  I have blog post that were scheduled and now MISSING!  GRRR  I have multiple dashboard post of the same post. GRRR  Finally, you just make me crazy sometimes.  Could you please try to make these "scheduled maintenances" work a little much smoother next time (if there must be a next time).  Could you keep them from erasing post, please! I don't think it is too much to ask.  Oh and on a positive note, THANKS so much for allowing me a place to post my thought and memories.  Now let's have a better week ahead Mr. Blogger.

Thank you,
Fellow Blogger

Amazing, just amazing

Just a small view of what today's radar looked like!
The weather today that is!  Why do you ask....well the weather created some amazing things today.  Actually it was so amazing that all the meteorologist used a term that is RARELY used unless needed...Today we had a PDS going on just east.  A PDS is a Particularly Dangerous Situation---in non weather terms that means CRAZY TORNADOS, HAIL, and RAIN!!!

See the PDS is when the storms happen to create a dangerous situation that could change at any moment.   The weather is so unstable that the forecasters feel there is an imminent threat to life....Tornados can be expected to not only appear, but be last longer than usual, be very intense, and appear more than once.  It is an OUTRAGEOUS event that rarely occurs.

Of course the people who have been experiencing the multiple tornado warnings, watches, and touch downs probably don't LOVE this as much as I do.  However, I just think that when something this rare happens everyone should enjoy a little of it.  I mean the radar is just amazing looking tonight.  Okay I am going to get off my weather soap box and let you all be!

Stay safe, enjoy the great weather, and take cover if you live around the PDS area! Here are JUST a few of the different tornados that this wonderful storm created....

Weekend catch up....

Yesterday was crazy busy.  At school we took a little walk down the road to the park by the zoo.  There we had and egg hunt, graphing activity, lunch, and some play time.  The kids loved all of it!  Actually I couldn't believe how easy it was to get them to do their math activity....just add some eggs and away they go! Ha who knew.  After school I took 4 of my kids to see the movie Rio!  They were so giggly and excited about it all day.  We had a blast and the movie is very cute.  Why did I do this?  Remember back to the beginning of March when I posted about my school's art auction.  Well, each teacher is highly encouraged to donate a teacher treat. My teacher treat was...dinner and a movie!  The parents bid on these teacher prizes and the school gets tons of money.  Everyone wins.

Today was pretty busy too.  First off I played an extra long tennis match.  My doubles partner and I played so good, but lost in the 3rd set tie breakers.  Boo to that!  However, we were down in the second set 1-4 and came back to win in a tie breaker.  All in all it was a very nice match...even in the crazy wind!  After tennis I RUSHED over to meet up with Janna (my blogging friend).  She also invited her friend Amy who lives close by.  All of us had a blast at lunch.  I loved getting to meet up with Janna in person and meet Amy.  How fun is that?
Janna, me (ignore my sweatiness), and Amy
Sadly, I had to leave a little early to RACE across town and hit up a soccer game.  Three of my sweet girls from class have been dying for me to come. However, their games have all been at 9 and well I have tennis....causing a bit of a scheduling nightmare.  Today they had a 2 o'clock game, so yippee that I got to catch the second half!  Those girls were playing their hearts out.  They have yet to win a game, but today they tied with the other team 0-0!  They were so excited to have kept the other team from scoring.  Oh and did I mention their team is all girls and they play against co-ed teams.  The team today was mostly boys...so even more exciting that they stopped them!  I loved watching the girls work so hard!  Actually I learned that I will be a horrible "soccer" mom, it is so stressful to watch....I was yelling like a crazy woman! Ha

After a long day of running around Chris and I went and got pedicures....yes, Chris is dying right now because I just told the world we get pedicures together.  Actually we love to get pedicures together.  We both get to sit back and relax!  Ahhhh my toes were in major need too.  Plus I got to use my new nail polish Janna sent in my package.  Finally home for the night.  We are just kicking it, watching some good old Red Box movies.  I am secretly watching the radar to see if the severe storms are going to make it to our house.  I hope so....I love sleeping during rain, lightening, and thunder!  (pst...I just heard thunder!) Happy Saturday to you all!!

Seven Facts Award

One of my new blog friends Janna, also my blogs swap buddy, gave me an award.  I have never done this type of thing before so I am kind of excited!  Here are the rules:  You post 7 facts about yourself and then you pass on the fun to 7 of your favorite bloggers!

Here are the RANDOM SEVEN that I came up with. Enjoy!

1. I am the biggest NERD in the world....yes I can say that!  I absolutely love SHARPIES, STICKY NOTES, and OFFICE SUPPLIES!  You could let me lose in any office store and I would be so happy.  Now I would be even more OVERJOYED if I could by everything I wanted there.  One of the best perks of teaching...I can go there and "reasons" with myself on why I HAVE TO HAVE sharpies, stickies, and so much more.

2.  I dream of being the most organized person in the world.  Okay....that may be a stretch! However, I would love to be more organized....yet don't want to spend all the time doing it.  I also would like a personal assistant to just do all my paper work at school...thus helping me be more organized.  I am probably the best pile organizer you could find around!  I may have piles, but know just where EVERYTHING is at! HA

3.  I would love to be a cute 30 something dresser!! You know trendy and such. Yet I lack the ability to do so in many areas.  One I dislike shopping.  Two I have not style.  Three...I want a PERSONAL SHOPPER!! **HINT HINT HINT***

4.  I am not like the others in my family (all though the hubby may think differently here) I try to get rid of things as I don't need them.  I am always willing to pass something along to Goodwill if it is no longer needed.

5.  I HEART the beach....I would spend every second of every day there if possible.  Sine we live so far away, I dream of vacationing there constantly.  I would love to have a beach house to visit whenever I would like.

6.  When we (Chris and I) chose to start a family...I will be lucky enough to stay home.  I feel so blessed to have this option.  My heart breaks for moms that want this but can't!

7.  This one is for my husband....I can NOT say NO!!  I am such a GIVER that it sometimes causes drama in my life.  I have the hardest time telling people NO.  Although to the hubs it seems like I don't do this enough...I have gotten a "little" better in the past 10 months of marriage.  What can I say I just want to help the WORLD!  Ha

That was a fun...hope you enjoyed some of the little facts! Have a happy weekend.

Oh and now for the lucky 7!
My 7 Bloggers

My favorite season has officially arrived!

SpRiNg!!!  I could sit here and list off at least a million reasons why I love spring!  However, I figure you would rather I scale it back a bit.  Hum, where does one start on something they love so much!  Okay like all good teachers I will give some positives, a con or two, and finish on a positive! (at least that's what you do with a parent, ha)

My first string of LIKES for SPRING: Of course I would begin with TULIPS!  I love tulips and I love seeing them bloom.  I can't wait to move out of the city....I will plant many tulips at our next home.
Evenings that seem to last forever.  I love that the time changes and you can well enjoy your evenings at home.  I can work at school and still feel productive at home because it is still LIGHT out!  I also don't mind that it is a bit dark when I head off to school...again I feel so productive like an over achiever heading out to work so early! HA  Warmer weather really gets my heart pumping.  I love that when I go to tennis I can get a nice little tan.

My cons of SPRING: POLLEN!

NEED I SAY MORE!!  Okay I am a huge allergy person and these darn trees are not helping me one bit.  I especially hate the trees with the little brown stringy things (see above picture) that pile up on the car, in our yard, and well our house (thanks to Winston going out the doggie door).  Also I dislike SPRING FEVER at school...something about the warmer weather makes the kiddos go CrAzY!  Thankfully it is normally just a week or two of craziness.

FINALLY the best of all best things I LOVE most about spring is SEVER WEATHER!!  I know it is a randomly odd thing to love but I love WEATHER!!!

This requires a little background info. I chose college based upon weather.  What?  Yes, I was a full on meteorology major for a good 2 years of college.  I loved everything about weather, except one two things.  A certain PROFESSOR to start with, that was pure EVIL!  I can't really speak of his name or watch his stupid storm chasing show on tv with out that EVIL feeling again!  (UGH to Dr. Joshua Wurman) I dislike this person so much that this weekend we spotted the tornado truck close to our house and I didn't even care to stop!  That is SO not like me.

Okay off that soap box...the other reason is that well it is not really a PEOPLE person job.  I realized that I am a very social person....meteorologist don't have many people to socialize with really.  Thank heavens I was a meteorology major for 2 years though because I learned so much about something I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE and found a great friend! It was an amazing 2 years of radar reading, tornado chasingand a great friendship.  But I have to say my social butterfly tendencies are much happier as a teacher ;-)

Last night we FINALLY arrived into spring, as it was our FIRST batch of sever weather!  I couldn't have been more excited to see the radar light up with reds and yellows. I got overjoyed to see we were under a sever weather warning.  I loved seeing the hook echo form on the screen!  AH, it was pure bliss for me last night.  Oh and did I mention I was lucky enough to marry a man who enjoys sever weather as well.  Who would have guessed, not many people enjoy such things.  I slept like a baby as the thunder cracked around our house!  Sorry to the rest of you non storm lovers, but I am hoping for a very ACTIVE seasons.  Oh and sorry to my dear friend Katie who has a love hate relationship with sever weather....being as she is my best good friend who stuck it out and really did become that wonderful meteorologist!  I'm sure you can understand that she loves the great storms...but hates to be up at all hours covering it for all the people watching!   Love you Katie, sorry you had a late night last night.

Just a little something about me...

Okay so FINALLY I feel like I am back to a normal life.  Well that is as normal as it gets for spring.  I am pretty sure my weekends will consist of the normal things like....tennis, yard work, grading papers, and looking for a house!  Yes, we are finally back to a normal life around here.  It seems the past few weekends we have been no stop going!  Heres to a very NORMAL week ahead!!!!

Oh and just for fun some little get to know you facts.  I found these over on another blog and though it would be fun to play along.

the question...

1. do you watch/read the news? I typically watch the news at night...but mostly get all my good info from the Hubs!  He keeps up more with the worldly news and such!  Oh and what ever fun info I can learn from Kidd and crew on Kidd Kraddick in the Morning!

2. how would you describe your "look"? Well hum...I am pretty much a JEANS/TSHIRT gal.  I would love to be the most "trendy" person around but hate shopping so that makes it hard.  However, I am always open to someone shopping with me and forcing me to be SUPER CUTE! (hint hint to all my dearest friends)
3. did you play sports in high school or college? Of course....I played TENNIS all through jr. high and high school!  I took the college days off and began again after...Tennis is the only sport (minus golf) you can pretty much play your whole life time!

4. would you rather give up lipstick/gloss or high heels? lipstick/gloss- I like the idea of it, but never really wear it...thus it would be easy to give up! HA

5. what's your favorite show to watch on tv? I have a lot: CSI, Teen Mom, 16 and Pregnant,  House, Private Practice, oh and did I mention...CSI! I love all the silly ABC family movies too, yes I am weird like that!
6. would you rather bake or cook? Bake probably, although I really don’t do either. I think I am better at baking if I HAVE to do one.
7. shorts or skirts? shorts –although lately I have become a fan of sundresses...so would that count?

8. what's your favorite scary movie? None & None! I DISLIKE SCARY movies and wont even pretend to watch one!  AHHHH

Getting to Know you...

Well as a teacher there is one thing I have learned to do very well...and all teachers do this, don't let them tell you otherwise!  BORROW other peoples ideas!  Ha ha, well I borrowed this post from Amber.  She does it on Sunday, but my Sunday post was already done.  Plus I try not to post more than once in a day...unless it is super important.

Here ya go:

1. what inspires you?
My sweet husband and his determination to meet goals.  Also my family...they are amazing people.  However, I would have to say that my sweet 2nd graders inspire me a lot as well.
2. what was the last thing you bought yourself?
This weekend, I bought some new tennis shoes.  After playing on a semi slick court I realized new ones were much needed.  Oh and I bought a few new dresses at Ross the other day thanks to my friend Amy!
3. would you rather watch a movie in a theater or from the comfort of your own home?
Movie Tavern is the best way to watch a movie...we love that place you can enjoy your show as well as a meal!  Normally we try to hit up the early Sunday showing after church!
4. household chore you don't mind doing?
ummm....can I say none?  If I have to pick I would say cleaning Bob's litter...not because I truly enjoy it but because I am the only one who will do it.  Chris really, really, really enjoys unloading the dishwasher (read with much sarcasm).
5. coffee or tea?
Sweet tea all the way!!!
6. what could you eat every day and not get sick of??
Ruffels chips and ranch dip...my favorite treat of all time!
7. what's the last book you read?
Well I can't tell you the last ADULT book I have read, but I can tell you the children's book.  The book we read on Friday was called "Library Mouse" it is very cute and was donated to our room from the Book Fair!  Gotta love my kids and parents.
8. do you think you "look" your age?
Heavens no!!  For those of you who don't know my age,  how old do you think I am?

Happy FAT TUESDAY!!

mardismall.jpg

Go out and enjoy your FAT TUESDAY!  I know I will!  Enjoy it!  I am sure by now I should know what I want to "give up" but don't.  I mean there are a billion things I could do without...but what is it I need or use too much!  Hummm....guess I will take this FAT day to really think it over!  I'll report back once I enjoy my fun tonight.

PROCRASTINATION...

Everyone has something they procrastinate about!  I know there is no way I am the ONLY person who procrastinates???  Well, I have (by blogging write now am still) as long as possible.  I have been procrastinating on school work all weekend.  There are like a billion things I need to get done but just can't force myself to do it.  I think that there are 2 reasons why!

  1. I attended an all day (7:45am-4:00pm) training yesterday.  The training was great, but it makes me want at least one day off from "work" related topics....aka grades, papers, centers, blah blah blah...
  2. I am STILL sick!! Geeezzzeeee I thought by now I would be over this mess of sickness.  I am now at the coughing my lungs off and foggy head point!  Yikes!
Needless to say of all things I would like to do today....is SLEEP, WATCH TV, and VEG!  That didn't stop my wonderful husband from GUILT tripping me into spin class today!  He "claimed" I would feel better....well hum.  Yes, it was nice to be working out.  However, as far as feeling better I am still a coughing FOOL!

I'm glad my husband forced me out the door to do something today!  After spin we enjoyed a nice little outing to Home Depot.  Then we hit up some lunch, as well as Wally world!  Now, well I should be doing "school" stuff.  Yikes...I guess if I don't I will regret it all tomorrow!  Okay I can do this...only 5 days till SPRING BREAK!!!  WHOO WHOO!  Hope you all had a more productive less procrastinating weekend!
