We are here….ahhhhhh

Well we have arrived in Punta Cana!  It is beautiful, just like in November when we visited.  Our trip here had its adventures to say the least.  To begin mom and dad arrived in DFW on Sunday night.  Chris and I got to take dad to dinner for Father’s day which was a nice treat.  On Monday we had big plans to wrap up some last minute trip/wedding needs.   We were checking things off our list when around 1 I received an email from American Airlines.  Your flight on Tuesday, June 22 at 7:00 am has been CANCELLED!!! WHAT!!!  Of course I began freaking out a little…I mean if we can’t make our first flight we will miss our Miami flight to Punta Cana.  Also we are meeting my sister and family in Miami for the 2nd flight to help with bags and kiddos.  YIKES!!!!

After oh an hour or more on the phone with AA we realized we had to leave for Miami TONIGHT in order to make that 2nd flight with Abby and the kiddos…..So long story short we quickly began packing up our car and headed out for the airport for our NOW 7:00 pm flight to Miami.  Of course we had to find a hotel close to stay over night….and that sucked because we didn’t want to have to move baggage around like that.  I mean we have 6 large bags and 3 carryon bags and a WEDDING DRESS!!!  Once we arrived in Miami it was now a task to find a cab LARGE enough to hold our entire stash of bags and such.  We found a minivan…and literally squeezed in.  Then we arrived to our room that was thought to be a suite with a fold out bed!!!  Please note that this was not the case!! However it was a place to rest and that is all that we need.

Tuesday morning mom, dad, and I loaded up and headed back the airport.  Once we got there we meet up with my sister and her family.  Then we all got to enjoy the Miami airport together!  They got to enjoy sitting with all the bags and dress! After a nice little 1 hour 45 minute flight we arrived!!

This is just a small look at the amount of bags we had brought with us.  We had between the 2 groups 15 large bags, and about 8 carryon bags and a wedding dress!  It took 3 sweet men to also figure out how to get it too our ride, and in our ride!  Yikes…we made it! Now we have take over our wonderful room!!  Meet with Miguelina the wedding coordinator and the videographer!  Check ready to enjoy the beach….

sorry I got lazy with centering the pics.  These are just the main area of our room….we have 2 living rooms, 2 full baths, and 2 main bedrooms. It is great four our 7 people!!

!!!ONE WEEK!!!

DSCF0009-1 (Here we are at our last party at home not married!!)

I sit here in disbelief that I am one week away from the day I have been longing for!  I just don’t know how it came so quickly!  However, I am more than ready for it.  I have completed packing for our trip.  I also have confirmed that Chris has the “MUST” pack items!

This past week these are the things I have accomplished:

  • packed my personal 2 suitcase
  • packed Chris’ 2 suitcase
  • verified our welcome dinner
  • verified the dress rehearsal dinner
  • up dated the wedding website (many times)
  • confirmed access to all areas of the resort for my guest
  • confirmed hotel reservation for Winston at puppy camp

DSC_0246 I’m going to miss this face….

  • Found a babysitter for Bob (thanks Polly and Kat)
  • had my nails done….yea!
  • double checked my wedding items that are packed
  • wrote all thank you notes up to TODAY for wedding gifts we received this week (I have really stayed on top of this and am very happy too!)
  • wrote all thank you notes from my bachelorette weekend
  • mailed my long distance bridesmaids, MIL, and flower girls their goodies for the trip
  • put some final touches on welcome bag items
  • made a welcome sign for the resorts front desk
  • cleared all memory cards for each camera
  • charged all camera batteries
  • prepared all Encore invitations to be mailed out on our wedding day!!!

Okay so those are just a few of the things I have done this week.  I hope that I have covered everything, but in reality I probably missed something!  Mom an dad will be here on Sunday; then we are off on Tuesday bright and early.  I will be so happy to get to the resort and start relaxing.

It’s becoming REAL!

Okay planning the wedding for the girl makes the whole thing REAL; you know the fact that you are getting married.  However, for the guy it takes a little more….Since Chris went to his bachelor party this weekend he has seen the light…you know that he is ALMOST married!

waiting for marriage lcns

Yesterday was the biggest, “THIS IS REAL”, moment though.  We went to the court house and got our marriage license!!!  Chris is so cute, he printed up our form online and we just took it with us to save time.  We had to wait about 15 or so minutes to meet with a clerk.  Once we met with her, we showed our id’s to prove it really is us “getting married”.  Then due to the fact that we did marriage mentoring or state offers a discounted license rate.  Instead of paying 78 dollars we just paid 11 dollars, that ROCKED!!  We both held our right hand up and swore all our info was true and we wanted this marriage…blah blah blah…and at 3;00 pm yesterday we were given our license!  Yippee!!!  As soon as we got home I of course packed  it up so we wont forget it!

In other fun news I WON another BLOG giveaway!!  I am so stinking excited!!!  I won the giveaway from one of my FAVORITE blogs ever POB, Letters from a Pissed Off Bride!   I love this site because different brides can write in and well……….release all that pissed off energy from the horrible things that happened or made them so angry on their wedding day.  Really it is some good reading!  Anyways I won a set of six Go Against The Grain custom note cards and envelopes! I will use them for our Encore Celebration in August! She has some super cute products you should check them out!  Yippee what a super day we have had!!!  First the marriage license and now a blog winner!!  Okay so I must run to do some errands and check of my list….just wanted to share our big news! HA

Type A will not do here!!!

Or should I say, Chris can not handle it in his house right now.  He is very type A about keeping things in their place and such.  However when you live in a house with NO EXTRA space packing for a wedding can get a bit messy.  We (mom, Abby, and I) tried to do all of our packing and messy stuff while Chris was away at his bachelor party this weekend.  However, since I too had my bachelorette party time just got away from us.  Although mom and I did clean up pretty good before he headed home, our house is still under “wedding” construction!  That’s what I keep telling Chris anyways.  I mean come on how can you pack 8 suitcases and not make a mess, really?  That is impossible or so I believe it to be.

the living room and kitchen were used for stuffing cups and packing them in that lovely suitcase next to me!!DSC_0260

this is what our bedroom looked like….here we did our counting of items and packed another suitcase. (sorry for the blurry pic…not sure what happened)

DSC_0261 DSC_0262

Look Bob even enjoyed helping us pack things up since her brother was already at the kennel!! Our house is almost back to normal…ALMOST (key word here)

My packing list thus far:

  • one suitcase full of mugs and snacks for welcome bag (sent with my sister)
  • one suitcase full of welcome bag goodies (again sent with my sister)
  • one suitcase with my sand ceremony kit, cake topper, cake server, and other odds and ends (sent with my mom)
  • one suitcase with my rocks (rocks instead of guest book), golf stuff for the guys, and tons of table decorations for the wedding (sent with my mom)
  • one suitcase of my personal clothes for the wedding week and honeymoon week (sent with me)
  • one suitcase with my wedding day needs and other stuff (sent with me)
  • one suitcase with Chris’ personal needs for wedding and honeymoon weeks (sent with Chris)
  • one suitcase with his suit and wedding day needs plus what other odds and ends wedding stuff I can sneak in there (sent with Chris)

Okay for now that is what all I have packed….keep in mind Chris has not really packed his stuff yet. However, I am working on that…you know men they need a list to double check and such! Thankfully my sister is able to take 2 suitcases for us…she has 2 kiddos that wont need both of their allotted suitcases so has subbed in my 2 wedding ones!!

Also thankfully mom and dad are able to pack together and add a wedding suitcase to their list as well.  All the men are taking 2 suitcases because of their GOLF CLUBS!! Therefore eliminating any hopes of me sneaking an extra bag on with them.  Good news is each ticketed passenger gets 2 bags, one carry on (40lbs or less), and a personal carry on item.  I think we have worked out all our LUGGAGE needs!!!!  Oh and the best part since it is international NO LUGGAGE FEES!!  YIPPEEE!!! Also good news is if I forget anything I can just email Chris since he doesn’t leave till Thursday!!  Hopefully I wont have to.

PARTY at the GAYLORD!!!

DSC_0380

Wow, all I can say is WOW!!  My bachelorette party was so rocking!!!  We had a blast to say the least.  My mom and sister did such an outstanding joy on everything. They spent the day decorating the room and preparing for the party.

DSC_0270 DSC_0271 DSC_0273 DSC_0275 DSC_0276 DSC_0269

While they were hard at work I spent the day out at the pool with all my friends.  It was very nice to just sit and relax after such a busy week.  The party began with food and drinks.  Of course we had my favorites:

  • Jason’s Deli potato chips
  • Jason’s Deli ranch dip
  • Jason’s fruit and cheese tray
  • Margaritas
  • and those oh so fatting frosted cookies!!!

What can I say I am a hard woman to please! Ha…I think my sister was little sad that I loved such a simple thing.  Once everyone arrived we began by playing a few games!  My friends Julie and Alison were kind enough to put together some very “interesting” games.  We all had many laughs.  Then I got to open all the goodies….Everyone gave me such wonderful gifts.  Some that Chris will LOVE, and then those more comfy ones that I will love!!!  Regardless they were all amazing and very thoughtful! After the shower we headed down to the restaurants.

We all enjoyed a nice dinner together!  I just loved having all my favorite people there!  I love that all of my friends from each area got to meet and mingle.  Now when we head out in a week for the Dominican they will already be friends!!!  As dinner finished up we headed over to the sports bar!  All I can say is that the Gaylord was a wonderful location to have this party!!  From the beginning I wanted something that had fun for all.  Also I wanted a place where we could enjoy all aspect of the bachelorette party with out worrying about driving and such.  Needless to say the Gaylord was perfect for this event!  I think everyone had a blast…I know for sure I had the time of my life!  Thank you to all my friends near and far that came .  You guys are the best!

2 weeks till to go!!

But really I only have one week!! YIKES!! I have been so bad about blogging but my time is just so short. Okay let's do a quick recap of the past week.

Monday was my last offical day at my school. Mom and I spent the day loading up the cargo van and moving my classroom. Of course we moved it all to storage for the summer, boo. It only took us one an a half trips....thanks to the "good times" van. Since we had the "good times" van (a panneled cargo van) mom and I loaded up some of my old apartment items and headed for my sisters! She and my bro in law just buil my niece and nephew the cutest play house ever. Therefore my old day bed needed to make it's way down for the play house. We left town at about 6 pm or so and arrived in the big EC about 1230 am. It was a LONG day for sure.

Tuesday was spent working on wedding stuff. We got the fans printed and cut out. We got some other random items printed up too, like welcome notes, picture notes and othe stuff. Wednesday we packed up the "good times" van....adding my sister of course! Then off we went back to Fort Worth. We were on a tigh deadline as I had to take Chris to the airport. This is both his and I's bachalor/ett weekends.

Thursday I had a school summer workshop, I'm trying to get the ones I can done. Since I'm going to be gone for the rest of the month. Plus I don't want to have too many to do after I get back. Mom and Abby spent the day getting their hair cute and other small stuff. Then we spent the entire night packin our MANY suitecases full of wedding goodies.

Yesterday was wedding stuff all day! Packing and checking off list. Then we checked in to our hotel for the bachalorett weekend. Today I plan to be by the pool mostly. Then partying with the girls tonight.

When I get home I will post many pics of the week and weekend. Only one more week to finish the touches then we are off! Enjoy your weekend too!!!

3 weeks!!

Well it is three weeks till our wedding day!  I am so excited and ready for it.  Although I still have many things to do.  Technically I only have 2 weeks to prepare for the wedding since we leave on the Tuesday prior to the wedding.  Chris has a few more days to prepare!

I began the initial packing this weekend.  I have one suitcase that is full of majority of the welcome bags!  This is the suitcase I have been working on the most.  I want to make sure I don’t forget a thing.  I also have begun setting out my wedding week clothing.  You know all the super cute outfits I want to wear each day.  Also the outfits for each dinner, including the rehearsal dinner.

I have to finish up a few more things like:

  • welcome bag itineraries
  • bridesmaids gifts wrapped and passed out
  • mailing labels on envelopes for Encore Party (to mail on our wedding day!)
  • DOGGIE babysitter
  • KITTY babysitter
  • fans for the ceremony (print and build)

Okay these are just the few I can ramble off the top of my head.  I am sure once I get in the wedding room (formally known as the guest bedroom) there will be more things that I think of!!!  Oh and did I mention this coming weekend is the Bachelorette and Bachelor parties for both Chris and I.    Millions of things too do;but I feel 100% confident that it can be done in the next 2 weeks.
